As always, the concept of “innocent until proven guilty” is an essential part of our judicial system. Unfortunately, in practice, this concept can become an uphill battle. When someone is accused of a crime, they have a right to a fair trial and to be judged by an impartial jury of their peers. They are also entitled to the assistance of a lawyer when facing serious charges. As such, it’s our duty to vigorously defend our clients and defend their rights. That’s exactly what we did for a particular client of ours.
Our client was charged with the murder of his roommate. Thankfully, he exercised his right to counsel and hired us as his representation. We immediately went to work investigating the murder and gathering as much evidence as possible. Even in cases where it doesn’t seem like there is a great deal of evidence, a thorough investigation can turn up valuable information that is otherwise overlooked. This was certainly the case for our client.
We searched through the evidence collected by the state, the 911 recordings, and any other relevant information we could access. As it turned out, the investigation uncovered some significant evidence that supported his claim of self-defense. This discovery helped convince the state to drop the charges against him, sparing him from having to endure a lengthy prison sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.
In the end, the state made the right decision by dropping the charges against our client and we are glad to see justice served in this matter. Cases such as these are a strong reminder that hard work is often necessary to achieve the results our clients deserve. Every case is different, but no matter the circumstances or the evidence involved, we will fight for our clients until the very end. We know that there are two sides to every story, and so we take the time to examine the evidence and understand our client’s perspective. Our goal is to always work in the best interest of our clients and help them reach the best possible outcome in every case.
